Jimpster returns to Freerange with his new ‘Bassic Rollers’ EP, marking his latest output in a career spanning three decades. The four-track record is now available digitally, following a single release in March and a vinyl edition shortly after.
Opening cut ‘Out And About’ draws from recent performances in South Africa, pairing rolling grooves with layered samples and a warm low-end. ‘Heads Down’ shifts toward a faster pace, channeling late ’90s UK club influences through tight drums and stripped-back arrangements.
On the B-side, ‘Crispy Pancakes’ moves into a disco-leaning framework built on analogue percussion and live bass, before expanding into synth-driven passages. Closing track ‘Far Side’ lowers the tempo, focusing on textured samples and a more introspective approach suited to early or late set moments.
