JOA is a Toronto-based DJ and producer whose sound combines melodic techno with tech house. His growing catalogue includes collaborations with artists such as Armin van Buuren, Alesso, ARTBAT, and Korolova.

The artist is set to appear during the fifth season of RESISTANCE Ibiza, which runs every Wednesday at Amnesia through September 16th, 2026. The nine-week residency coincides with the venue’s 50th anniversary and features weekly appearances from season resident Adam Beyer, alongside headline residents ARTBAT, Eric Prydz, and Boris Brejcha.
Ahead of his RESISTANCE Ibiza appearance, JOA selects 10 tracks reflecting the melodic, rhythmic, and high-impact influences shaping his current direction.
1. ARTBAT and JOA – The Spot
“‘The Spot’ represents a major step in the development of my own sound. Working with ARTBAT allowed me to connect the progressive and emotional influences I grew up with to a darker, more modern and powerful production style. It reflects the scale, atmosphere and impact I want JOA records to have moving forward.”
2. Korolova and JOA – My Mind
“‘My Mind’ represents the more immediate and club-focused side of my own music. Working with Korolova allowed me to combine a strong vocal hook with a darker, driving production that still feels accessible. It reflects my goal of making records that work in a major club or festival environment while still having a clear emotional identity.”
3. TH;EN and Carlo Whale – Echoes of You
“‘Echoes of You’ represents the deeper and more mature side of my current taste. I love how hypnotic and restrained it is while still carrying a strong emotional identity. It reflects where I want to take my music now: darker, more atmospheric and sophisticated without losing the melody.”
4. Max Styler and Greggio – Oldskool Flavor
“‘Oldskool Flavor’ represents the more rhythmic and club-focused side of my taste. The production is stripped back, confident and built around a groove that immediately commands attention. I love records that can feel underground and functional while still having a recognizable hook and personality.”
5. SENTINEL – Bring the House Down
“‘Bring the House Down’ represents the high-impact and festival-focused side of the music influencing me. It has a direct groove, a strong central idea and the type of drop that creates an immediate reaction in a large environment. I love how it feels modern and controlled while still carrying the scale and energy of the records that first inspired me.”
6. Noir and Haze – Around (Seth Hills and Victor Garde Remix)
“‘Around’ has a timeless vocal and emotional quality, but this remix places it inside a much more modern and powerful production. I love when a familiar song can be rebuilt for today’s dance floor without losing the feeling that originally made it special. That connection between songwriting, nostalgia and contemporary club energy is something I want to explore in my own records.”
7. Korolova and Volkoder – Waiting for You
“‘Waiting for You’ captures the emotional and melodic side of dance music that has always connected with me, but presents it through a more contemporary production style. I love how the vocal creates an immediate emotional identity while the groove and arrangement keep it working in a modern club environment. That balance is very close to the direction I want for my own records.”
8. Prospa and Cloonee – Free Your Mind (James Poole Edit)
“‘Free Your Mind’ represents the rawer and more energetic side of the music influencing me right now. It combines a strong vocal idea with a driving groove and an immediate sense of release. I love how direct it feels without losing character, and that combination of emotion, rhythm and instant crowd response is something I want to bring further into my own productions.”
9. MORTEN and ARTBAT – Culture
“‘Culture’ represents the scale and intensity I want my modern records to have. It combines ARTBAT’s darker melodic world with MORTEN’s festival energy, creating something that feels cinematic, driving and built for a massive environment. It reflects my goal of connecting my progressive background with a heavier and more contemporary sound.”
10. A J Ribbon – Redemption
“‘Redemption’ represents the more cinematic and emotionally expansive side of my taste. I love records that take time to develop an atmosphere before delivering their full impact. It feels melodic and reflective, but it still has the tension and scale needed to work in a club or festival setting.”
