Josh Wink returns with the second installment of his Found Sounds archive series, presenting a newly unearthed 1998 live set recorded at the Nike Pavilion in Atlanta. The mix, now available exclusively on Apple Music, captures Wink at a pivotal moment in U.S. rave history—spinning vinyl deep into the night during a packed, high-energy party.
“It’s a bit unclear which party this was from,” Wink shares. “But I remember it being a packed, sweaty night during the good old rave days. You can hear the crowd cheerfully shouting and screaming at certain moments in the recording—literally coming through the turntable’s needle.”
Recorded entirely on vinyl, the set blends house, acid, minimal, and techno, with Wink digging through white labels and long-lost pressings—some so rare, even he can’t ID them now. “Maybe this will encourage listeners to join in the ID game and help uncover the mysteries hidden in the mix,” he adds.
The Found Sounds series launched earlier this year with his 1998 set from New York’s Twilo and serves as a sonic time capsule of Wink’s three-decade journey. It reflects the energy, spontaneity, and genre fluidity that defined his early career, and the lasting influence of records like ‘Don’t Laugh’, ‘I’m Ready’, and ‘Higher State of Consciousness’.
