Australian producer and DJ, Kaz James, has recently released his latest EP entitled ‘Never The Same’, marking his first appearance on Rüfüs Du Sol’s label imprint, Rose Avenue Records.
‘Never The Same’ offers two tracks, linked by an underlying theme of escapism. They demonstrate a blend of rhythmic percussive elements and smooth melodies that enhance the dynamics of the duo.
The title cut features the vocals of Nicholas Routledge, the lead singer of the electro-pop band, Van She. This song is marked by its rich piano chords and emotive vocals. On the other hand, ‘Skin’ draws in listeners with its prolonged instrumental crescendos.
This project was two years in the making. Kaz James expressed his satisfaction with the release, stating, “I really love the lyrics on ‘Never The Same’, which I wrote with my boy Nicky, the lead singer from Van She. I feel they are really different and you don’t really get those kinds of indie vocals on a lot of electronic records anymore.”
