Belfast-based group KNEECAP have canceled all 15 dates of their October United States tour due to legal complications in the United Kingdom, stemming from an upcoming court hearing on September 26th. The announcement comes as all U.S. shows had sold out.
“To all our US based fans, we have some bad news. Due to the close proximity of our next court hearing in London on September 26 – as the British government continues its witch-hunt – with the start of the U.S. tour, we will have to cancel all 15 U.S. tour dates in October,” said the band in a statement. “With every show fully sold out this is news we are sad to deliver. But once we win our court case, which we will, we promise to embark on an even bigger tour to all you great heads.”
Canadian shows are not affected, with four sold-out dates in Vancouver and Toronto still going ahead as planned. Refunds for the canceled U.S. performances are available at the point of purchase.
In the same message, KNEECAP hinted at a forthcoming announcement for their American fans: “We will be sharing something very special for U.S. fans next week so that we can still link in with you all in October. It’s top secret for now, but all will be revealed next week – stay tuned.”
The group has been riding a wave of critical acclaim for their debut album ‘Fine Art’. Their politically charged performances, including outspoken support for Palestinian freedom at Coachella, have added fuel to their rising global profile. KNEECAP recently played Glastonbury and opened for Fontaines D.C. in England and Wales, continuing a run of high-impact summer festival dates across Europe.
