Split between Berlin and New York, 24-year-old producer and DJ Kotiēr channels his dual life into a rich, evocative sound.

With a background as a lifelong pianist and formal training in computer science, he crafts synth-driven reinterpretations that have found homes on Solomun’s Diynamic, Tomorrowland’s CORE, and Adriatique’s Siamese imprints. His latest two-track release, ‘Static Soul’, marks his debut on Rose Avenue Records.
To celebrate the release, Kotiēr shares 10 favorites — a selection that spans introspective gems and moody club cuts, each carrying an emotional pull and a sense of timelessness.
1. Tangerine Dream – Love On A Real Train
“This track is from 1983, but I’ve seen it pop up recently as a trending sound on Instagram Reels — a reminder of just how timeless it is. It’s hypnotic and still holds up today.”
2. Joris Voorn – Ringo
“Joris Voorn wrote this track after his son Ringo — a beautifully evolving piece built around a simple riff. It carries this innocent nostalgia that hits you in a very pure way.”
3. Luke Alessi – Walk On By
“Luke Alessi is one of my favorite producers at the moment. He has become known for his old-school house-influenced anthems, but ‘Walk On By’ is a dreamy outlier. The way the arp weaves in and out gives it this floating, almost hypnotic quality.”
4. Jimi Jules – Touched By Silence
“One of my favorite tracks from Jimi Jules — and maybe one of my favorite tracks in general. The unusual phrasing keeps you slightly disoriented but completely drawn in. It’s groovy, unpredictable, and carries a super cool feeling.”
5. Tim Engelhardt – Sawtooth Orchestra
“Tim has been releasing some dance floor weapons, but ‘Sawtooth Orchestra’ reveals a darker, moodier side. The whining, eerie synths give it a haunting beauty.”
6. Konstantin Sibold – Madeleine
“I’ve always thought of Konstantin more for his heavier sound, but ‘Madeleine’ is something else. A slow-burning nine-minute piece with rolling, textured synths, it has this liminal, dusk-like quality — the kind of track you can just get lost in while getting lost somewhere.”
7. boys be kko – Lop Nor
“boys be kko is an artist from Japan whose work is full of unique textures. ‘Lop Nor’ is peaceful, playful, and strange in the best way — like waking up somewhere unfamiliar but beautiful.”
8. Bonobo, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – 6000 Ft.
“Unlike most tracks on this list, this one flips the dynamic — Bonobo is more known for his acoustic, cinematic work, and ‘6000 Ft.’ leans into a house-inspired vibe. It pairs a light acid riff with organic drums and an airy vocal — a beautiful fusion.”
9. Rodriguez Jr. – Feathers & Bones
“Rodriguez Jr. is one of the most insane live acts I’ve ever seen. I had the chance to open for him in Boston a few years back. ‘Feathers & Bones’ (the title track of his album) is lush, delicate, and meditative — full of beautiful chords, soft bells, and soaring synths.”
10. Kotiēr – Lēthē
“A personal one to end with — ‘Lēthē’ is from my ‘Static Soul’ EP. It’s not a track designed for the dance floor. It came from a place of feeling, more than function. I’m incredibly grateful to Rose Avenue for giving it a platform.”
