French selector Laurent Garnier turned 60 years old and celebrated with a deeply personal six-part mix series, presented via FIP (now part of Radio France). Titled ‘[DEEP] Search’, the eight-hour journey explores key musical memories from every decade of his life — spanning from 1966 to 2026.
Structured chronologically, each chapter reflects Garnier’s intimate connection to music. Across more than 80 tracks, he revisits the sounds that shaped his early years, first DJ sets, club experiences, and family milestones, blending soul, punk, acid jazz, house, drum & bass, and much more.
In episode one (1966–1976), he remembers ‘Baby’ by Carla Thomas and classic cuts from Donovan and Michel Fugain. Later decades include formative punk moments with Buzzcocks, early techno and Chicago house, standout gigs at Time Warp, and personal anthems like Jeff Mills’ ‘If’ and Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’. The final mix reflects on recent performances and a slowed touring pace, while reaffirming his enduring passion for music.
The series premiered on January 31st, 2026, through a special overnight broadcast on FIP, culminating in Garnier’s 60th birthday on February 1st.
