South African spoken-word artist Lazarusman has announced his debut studio album, ‘Skin,’ scheduled for release on June 5th, 2026, via the Moodfamily label. The full-length project marks a significant milestone for the producer following a decade of high-profile vocal contributions within the global electronic music scene.

Skin’ features production from an international roster of collaborators, including Stimming, FKA Mash, Johannes Brecht, Boogie Vice, and Axone. The record explores themes of identity, faith, colorism, and masculinity in post-apartheid South Africa.

Musically, the album integrates Lazarusman’s distinct spoken-word poetry with elements of deep house, tech house, Afro house, breakbeats, and jazz. The arrangement balances political and personal narratives with structured, electronic rhythms.

The artist also shared the first single, ‘Soft Serve,’ where a warm, shuffling Zito Mowa deep house groove serves as the vehicle for a sharp, internalized critique of colourism. He uses the track’s smooth, late-night aesthetic to deliver a poignantly vulnerable narrative, dismantling inherited beauty standards and exploring the fine line between aesthetic admiration and reductionist objectification.

Lazarusman has established himself as a prominent voice in dance music through past collaborations with acts such as Booka Shade and Dwson. His work previously earned a 2021 Grammy nomination for his contribution to the track ‘Dear Future Self.’

The album arrives on June 5th. Listen to ‘Soft Serve’ below.
