Life on Planets returns to Tuskegee with ‘Work Come First’, a genre-spanning cut that fuses classic house, R&B tones, and socially conscious songwriting. The release features remixes from Detroit’s Omar S, Soul Clap’s Charles Levine, and collaborator Seven Davis Jr., forming a well-rounded EP out now in both digital and vinyl formats.
Written and performed by Phill Celeste in partnership with Seven Davis Jr., ‘Work Come First’ unfolds like a modern-day hustle anthem. Built around warm organ piano and raw vocal presence, the track offers a live, soulful feel that stands out in the club format.
On remix duties, Omar S strips the song to its core, crafting a rough, lo-fi take soaked in Detroit grit and street soul flavor. Charles Levine delivers a funk-heavy rework, leaning into the richness and warmth that define his long-standing Soul Clap signature. Completing the set, Seven Davis Jr. offers a deep, heads-down reinterpretation through his alternate ‘Sev’s Mix’.
