Crosstown Rebels founder Damian Lazarus has released his fifth studio album entitled ‘Magikal’. The surprise LP arrives just days before his iconic Day Zero Festival in Tulum, a fitting backdrop for an album rooted in the transformative power of music and the mystique of the dancefloor.
Spanning eight original tracks, ‘Magikal’ sees Lazarus blending his signature eclecticism with contributions from a notable roster of collaborators, including Jem Cooke, Zoe Kypri, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED), A-Trak, Mathew Jonson, Fink, and Jojo Abot. Each track reflects his enduring mission to inject a sense of wonder and spirituality into club culture, creating a journey that transcends the boundaries of genre.
In support of the album, Lazarus is embarking on a global tour with a unique twist. Select shows will feature renowned magician DEKAY, whose street magic and illusions aim to deepen the sense of enchantment that defines ‘Magikal’.
The release of ‘Magikal’ sets the stage for Day Zero, happening on January 11th, 2024 in the heart of the Mexican jungle. Originally conceived in 2012 to mark the end of the Mayan calendar, the 18-hour event has grown into one of the world’s most revered electronic music gatherings, known for its unparalleled setting and spiritual ethos.
