UK duo Disclosure has released their fourth studio album entitled ‘Alchemy’. The record marks the 10-year anniversary of their debut album, ‘Settle’, and is a bold next step for the brothers, Guy and Howard Lawrence.
Unlike their previous releases, this album will be released independently, without any samples or guest features. As such, the record is very much about the brothers laying their work bare, with tracks nodding to synth-heavy trance, jungle, bass, house, and techno. The LP is a celebration of the duo feeling liberated, as they are no longer signed to a major record label and will not tour this record.
Guy said, “With our last record, the emphasis was on finishing the tracks as well as we could. Whereas with this one, it was on starting them as well as we could.” Howard added, “There was this combination of deep heartbreak and sadness, but also deep admiration and appreciation. Let’s turn this horrible feeling into something beautiful. The whole idea was to channel pain into beauty – which, in hindsight, is always the aim.”
