Eagles & Butterflies returns to the electronic music scene with his latest EP entitled ‘Dopamine Vol. 02.’ This release continues his Dopamine series, a collection of raw, club-centric productions under his label, Art Imitating Life.
In ‘Dopamine Vol. 02,’ Chris Barratt, known as Eagles & Butterflies, showcases a wide range of styles from synth-pop to rave anthems. “Dopamine is a series on my label Art Imitating Life that’s a channel for me to release anything I want, with the emphasis on ‘not everything needs to be a hit’/ ‘No fancy gimmicks or marketing, just music I love,” he commented.
The EP opens with ‘Higher,’ a euphoric track with 90s trance vibes, followed by ‘Up All Night,’ a high-energy anthem with atmospheric synths, breaks, and a distorted vocal refrain. The EP includes a new club mix of ‘Runaway’ with punchy breakbeats and ‘Miss U,’ which dives into a percussive techno groove with an acid bassline.
Standout tracks are ‘Portamento,’ a nostalgic Italo disco synth track, and ‘Lullaby 02,’ a dreamy synth melody with vintage drum beats. ‘Soul’ explores warehouse rave territory with an arpeggiated synth melody and powerful drum breaks.
