Her sets and productions are emotionally rich, conceptually fluid, and unapologetically vibrant. Her latest EP, ‘Funny World’, released via Reconsider, captures this momentum—blending dubby atmospheres, punchy percussion, and playful synths into a kaleidoscopic sonic experience.
In this interview, LIZA shares the personal evolution behind the EP, her thoughts on the growing complexity of being an artist in the digital era, and what listeners can expect from her next chapter.
EG: Hi, LIZA! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?
LIZA: Hello everyone, and especially to Electronic Groove for giving me the opportunity to chat and share a bit about my career. I’m in Barcelona, Spain, where I’ve been living for 7 years, but I’m originally from Bragado, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your new EP, ‘Funny World’. What are some of your initial feelings now that it’s out? What has the reception been like so far?
LIZA: Thank you so much. I’m really happy about this release, mainly because, for several reasons, it represents an important step forward in my musical journey.
First, it has to do with breaking barriers in the field of production—an area of music where I didn’t initially feel confident, but where I had a strong desire to learn and grow. Over time, I’ve found my style, and I owe that to perseverance and dedication, despite the countless obstacles I’ve overcome—and will likely continue to encounter along the way.
Secondly, because I’m signing with Reconsider, a label founded by two artists I deeply admire: Michael Ritter and Felix E. I’ve known Michael for several years; he’s invited me to play at his events on multiple occasions, including in Berlin and Amsterdam, always supporting my music with great humility and kindness, even before we knew each other personally. You can truly feel the love they put into their project, helping promote artists and giving them a real platform.
The EP has been very well received by both fellow artists and the general public, especially because they can see the evolution and progress in what has been a complex and deeply personal production journey. As I mentioned before, the support from the label has been crucial, as well as from the artist MANTi, who has been building an impressive career in the industry and agreed to remix one of my tracks—bringing even more value to the project and helping me reach a wider audience.
EG: So, what’s ‘Funny World’ all about? What can your fans expect to find on this one?
LIZA: Funny World is a concept I created based on the sense of fun and enjoyment that music production brings me today—something that, at first, used to feel like a real challenge due to the technical and theoretical knowledge, as well as the creative state, it demands.
All the tracks convey a sense of joy and are filled with energetic sounds. The EP includes four tracks: three original ones, featuring immersive dub-influenced atmospheres, strong percussion, and distorted synthesizers, plus a remix by MANTi, adding the extra power the EP needed.
I enjoy the idea of creating diverse music and not boxing myself into one particular sound, and I think this EP reflects that quality quite well.
EG: And on an inspirational level, is there a concept or emotion driving these cuts? What was the creative process like?
LIZA: On an inspirational level, the idea of having fun throughout the process, learning from other producers I consider very talented, and drawing references based on where I want to go, is what led me to this result.
The creative process took place throughout 2024, during which I took Mixing & Mastering classes to “professionalize” my sound, and that gave me a lot of motivation to produce almost every day.
Each track reflects a bit of the different styles I like to showcase on the dancefloor and the energy I aim to generate, so for me, it’s a huge achievement to see how, step by step, I’m getting closer to the results I want to reach.

EG: The EP is rounded off by a remix of ‘Right On Cue’ by MANTi. What were some of your thoughts when listening back for the first time? What things do you first look out for when you receive a remix of a track of yours?
LIZA: MANTi is an amazing artist who has been growing by leaps and bounds in the electronic scene and is already part of well-known labels like Akumandra, Amaeo, Marginalia and more. I appreciate her versatility and how active she always is, which makes me feel reflected in her. I’m very grateful that she liked my music and accepted to create a different version, bringing a fresh perspective.
The first thing I look for when I receive a remix is what elements from the original track have been taken and adapted to a new sonic context. I think it’s important to respect what the original artist wanted to convey in their track as the main element, and then think about how to innovate and recreate a new version that’s interesting and, at the same time, offers something different.
EG: Now, let’s dive into your background…you were born in Argentina but relocated to Barcelona, right? How did that move come about? Was it motivated by music?
LIZA: I’m originally from a small town in the province of Buenos Aires, but I lived for many years in Capital Federal. After working for several years in the corporate world and already having some technical knowledge of DJing, I considered the possibility of making this part of my daily life. That’s when I started taking advanced courses and making practice a regular part of my routine.
From there, the idea of moving to a city like Barcelona came about, where art can be felt in every corner, and there are prestigious schools like SAE, offering high-quality training and opportunities to network with artists from all over the world.
EG: And when did you dive into the worlds of DJing and production? What was that process like?
LIZA: When I was 20 and studying Public Relations, I decided to take beginner and advanced DJing courses as a hobby. I had never been to an electronic party because I didn’t have the right environment for it, but music has always been very important in my home. Dancing is something that unites us a lot, and we always listened to very diverse styles (New Age, Jazz, Classical Music), with electronic music present through House, Electronic Pop, and classic EDM tracks.
At 26, I went to my first electronic party, and a whole range of possibilities opened up as I realized that this could actually become a profession. I can say I became a bit obsessed with the idea, staying up late to practice every night, and already thinking about becoming a producer, knowing that it was essential to grow in this field.
I had a pretty structured life, but I started playing at various venues in Buenos Aires until I decided to move to Barcelona because my siblings lived here. In Barcelona, I completed the Electronic Music Certification, a comprehensive year-long course that opened many doors for me in terms of knowledge and connections with influential people in the industry.
EG: Stepping outside of the studio for a bit…What do you see as the biggest challenge for established and rising artists in the next few years?
LIZA: I believe one of the main challenges we are facing is the versatilization of the DJ role, which has evolved into other tasks, such as becoming an Influencer to reach the audience. This is further compounded by the wide variety of proposals that create a competitive environment, where often artistic talent is not prioritized, as other variables come into play. Finding the balance between creativity and the need to adapt to technological changes is increasingly crucial, because while innovation and visibility are important, we must not lose sight of what motivates us to make music: the passion and desire to genuinely connect with people.
This means adapting to complex conditions, such as dealing with social media algorithms and the need to make economic investments from all possible perspectives. Today, there are no artists without a presence on social media, something that didn’t used to be the case when other forms of media predominated, but those were not the “reason for being” of the artist as they are now. It’s essential to take social media seriously to avoid being left behind. However, I think our presence on social media, while essential, should not define our identity as artists; it should merely be another tool to share what truly matters to us and build community.
Both for us and for those who come after, we need to stay alert, as priorities are constantly changing. Technology is advancing (such as AI), and it’s necessary to adapt to a dynamic environment where being multitasking has become a duty to avoid being left out. But at the same time, I believe it’s essential that artists support each other and collaborate because, in the face of these changes, it’s more important than ever to maintain authenticity and share experiences that, even though mediated by technology, remain human and genuine.

EG: Looking forward, what can we expect from LIZA? Where can your fans catch you next? What are your next scheduled shows?
LIZA: I could say that LIZA is an eclectic project full of motivation and dedication, with a strong desire to grow, always looking for ways to improve within a career that requires continuous learning. Fortunately, doors are opening up for me, and in the coming months, I have several dates confirmed in Barcelona, as well as plans to travel through South America at the end of the year. I will also be performing at the official Brunch Electronik afterparty at Input and at OFF Sonar, alongside my friends from Reconsider.
EG: Thank you so much for your time, LIZA! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!
LIZA: Thank you to you and to the guys from Reconsider for this opportunity! Hope to talk with you again soon!
