Leah Chisholm, better known as LP Giobbi, has recently announced her sophomore album, ‘Dotr’, which is set to release on October 18th, 2024 via Ninja Tune’s imprint Counter Records. Along with this news, she has also unveiled her new single, ‘Bittersweet’, featuring vocals from Portugal. The Man.

Portugal. The Man have been my favorite band since 2012 when I discovered their album ‘In the Mountain in the Cloud.’ I cannot tell you how many late night air guitar jams I have had to that album in my living room,” LP Giobbi shares. “I just about passed out when they asked me to remix one of their songs a couple years ago and then again when they sent me some tunes to work on, including what is now ‘Bittersweet’. The vocal is one of the most attention-grabbing melodies I have heard in a long time.”

‘Dotr’ is a heartfelt tribute built from candid recordings of friends and mentors, vocal lines from peers, and heroes like Brittany Howard, Panama, and Danielle Ponder. The album attempts to capture the comforts of home amidst the chaos of life on the road.

Named after the way she used to sign notes to her parents as a child, ‘Dotr’ celebrates both what LP Giobbi has and what she has lost. It opens with themes of grief, recounting the losses of her mother-in-law Patricia Lynn, her piano teacher Carolyn Horn, and a longtime family friend Suse Millmann. Despite its origins in grief, the album is ultimately a joyous project that finds meaning in living fully.
