Maribou State just announced  ‘Hallucinating Love’, their third studio album, set for release on January 31, 2025, via Ninja Tune. This LP marks a triumph for Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, who overcame personal challenges to create their most ambitious work yet.

The album’s lead single, ‘Otherside,’ featuring Holly Walker’s haunting vocals, is now available. It showcases the duo’s evolved sound, seamlessly blending Maribou State’s signature electronic textures with organic instrumentation.

‘Hallucinating Love’ boasts a notable lineup of guest artists, including Andreya Triana, North Downs, and Gaidaa, offering a diverse range of voices and styles. This collaborative approach builds upon Maribou State’s previous successes with ‘Portraits’ (2015) and ‘Kingdoms In Colour’ (2019), further solidifying their reputation as innovators in the soulful, downtempo electronic genre.

The path to ‘Hallucinating Love’ was not without obstacles. Following their 2019 world tour, the duo faced personal struggles, intensified by the global pandemic. Chris Davids grappled with insomnia, ADHD, and a rare brain condition requiring surgery, while Liam Ivory battled anxiety.

Despite these challenges, Maribou State produced some of their most powerful music to date. The album’s delay allowed them to infuse ‘Hallucinating Love’ with profound emotion and resilience—qualities born from their experiences.

Maribou State will preview ‘Hallucinating Love’ at a sold-out London show on November 27th. This performance marks their first live appearance since Chris’s surgery and their 2019 tour.
