Marina Trench has released her latest project, the ‘Watching Back’ EP, marking a return to her own Sweet State label. The four-track collection serves as a multifaceted exploration of the artist’s musical foundations, blending club-ready rhythms with melodic crossover elements.
The EP moves through a variety of electronic sub-genres, ranging from the downtempo, R&B-influenced tones of ‘What I Do’ to the classic soulful house energy found in ‘Get High (If You’re Looking For Love).’ The latter focuses on organic grooves and hypnotic vocal mantras, nodding to the traditional house sounds that defined Trench’s early career as a DJ.
Collaboration also plays a key role in the release, as Yaje joins for ‘Shake Zone.’ This track pairs disco-inspired basslines with pop-leaning vocals, while the accompanying Instrumental Club Mix strips back the melodic layers to emphasize the percussion and synth solos for a dancefloor-focused delivery.
Based in Paris, Marina Trench has established a reputation for elegant house productions, previously releasing music on respected labels such as Heist Recordings and Wolf Music.
