What began as a moment of inspiration at Space Club Miami’s terrace has blossomed into a flourishing career defined by his ability to create euphoric dancefloor experiences. His signature sound – featuring uplifting rhythms, heavy basslines, and forward-thinking production – has become synonymous with the city’s vibrant nightlife.

Since launching his career in 2021, De Gasparis has quickly emerged as a key figure in Venezuela’s electronic music scene. He has performed at Mystic Sunset, Venezuela Electrónica, and Le Cantine Ibiza. Alongside his performances, he runs two local initiatives – Groove Garden and Oasis Project – to develop the local scene while pursuing his music production.

In this exclusive interview with EG, De Gasparis discusses his journey from amateur DJ to sought-after performer, his creative philosophy, and his ambitious vision for 2025.

EG: Hi, Mario! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?

Mario De Gasparis: Hello! Thank you and your team for having me. I’m very happy and excited to be here. I’m in Caracas right now.

EG: First of all, thank you so much for your contribution to our EG Spotlight series! Tell us, what can fans of the series expect to find in this mix? Is there a concept driving this one? How do you usually approach recorded mixes?

Mario De Gasparis: For this mix, my approach was to showcase how I’ve developed my way of making people dance in Caracas, incorporating local influences as well as artists from other places. It was recorded at a party organized by my team and me, where I had the freedom to play my own style of electronic music. In this mix, I present my full set of skills live using two decks.

EG: So, let’s take this one back to your origins… How did you come across electronic dance music? Do you remember your first interactions with it? What drove you to want to learn the craft?

Mario De Gasparis: I remember the first time I found electronic music – I was a 19-year-old amateur DJ when I went to the terrace of Space Club in Miami for the first time. I was fascinated but also confused – I couldn’t understand how the DJs were mixing or what kind of music was playing. That was my first real exposure to house, tech house, and minimal tech.

EG: How would you describe your sound now? What was the evolution of your sound like?

Mario De Gasparis: I like to think of it as the kind of music I enjoy listening and dancing to at a party. I’d describe it as happy, fun, and infused with Latin influences, but always aiming for a forward-thinking sound – heavy basslines and tracks that connect with people and make them go wild on the dancefloor.

“My goal is to bring new music to the scene in the most honest way possible”

EG: And when did you start playing live? Was it hard for you to get out of your shell in that sense? What events have you performed at so far?

Mario De Gasparis: The first time I played live after deciding to pursue a career as an electronic music DJ was back in 2021, at a private party in Caracas. After that, a friend and I started offering our services for events and venues, working our way up little by little until we finally started playing at electronic music parties. I’ve since performed at different events such as Mystic Sunset, On the List, Venezuela Electranica, and Le Cantine Ibiza, as well as venues such as 360 Rooftop Bar, Techraza, Malasaña, and other spots around the city.

EG: How has your experience gone so far? What do you personally want to accomplish in the Caracas circuit?

Mario De Gasparis: It feels like I’m living my dream. One of the things that drives me the most is making people have a great time dancing. My goal is to bring new music to the scene in the most honest way possible.

EG: Now, on to the state of the scene… What do you see as the biggest challenge for the music industry in the next few years, and how do you think artists can adapt?

Mario De Gasparis: I think the biggest challenge for an artist with my goals and ambitions is learning how to produce the music I love to play while also marketing it effectively. This year, I’m starting my journey as a music producer here in Caracas, with the goal of moving abroad to further my studies and refine my skills. My work is also shaped by the local events and projects I’m developing with my team – Groove Garden and Oasis Project– which are helping to push the scene forward.

EG: Finally, what’s next for Mario De Gasparis? What new milestones are you looking forward to in 2025? Where can your fans catch you next?

Mario De Gasparis: I’m really excited about my new video set from the event Le Cantine Ibiza. It’s also proof that, as a DJ, I don’t just stick to one style—I adapt to the environment and the crowd to create the perfect vibe for each moment. The next big step I’m working towards is getting an opportunity to play at a medium-to-large-scale show, such as Partai or Ánima Collectiv in Caracas.

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Mario! We wish you all the best for the future. Take care!

Mario De Gasparis: Thanks to the Electronic Groove team for making this happen!
