Electronic producer and DJ ANNA has announced that musician, sound designer, and creative Max Cooper has remixed her collaboration with the electro-acoustic and contemporary classical, East Forest. The remix adds new electronica elements that highlight the original’s harmonics while incorporating Cooper’s own sonic signature.

ANNA’s ambient debut album, ‘Intentions’, features collaborations and remixes from several leading electronic artists, including Laraaji and Jon Hopkins. Max Cooper’s remix stands out for its playful, glitchy sample processing and warm waves of sound.

According to Cooper, “The original has a beautiful piano riff I wanted to reimagine for the remix. So I mapped it to a synth and let that guide me through the development and arrangement, playing with delay and filtering to add my expression on top of what was already there. The flow of that one element then more or less set what needed to fit around it, in terms of the midway lull and then the broken beats and bass growl section later on. It needed a lot of taming and balancing to try to keep the soft vibe whilst letting things open up a bit, and then finally, a lot of micro-detailing around the main structure for any of you who like listening with a good stereo field to find the hidden elements. It was one of those projects that seemed to flow naturally from the ideas of the original, and how my production approach could fit into its story.”
