He was 65 years old.
Faithless main singer, Maxi Jazz, passed away last Friday while he was sleeping. The news was confirmed by her musical partner, Sister Bliss, through the band’s social networks, “We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died last night. He was a man who changed our lives in so many ways. He gave proper meaning and message to our music”, she wrote.
Musician and DJ, he was born as Maxwell Fraser in London on June 19, 1957. He is responsible for hits like ‘Insomnia’, ‘God is a DJ’, ‘We Come 1’, among others.
“He was also a lovely human being with time for everyone and a wisdom that was both profound and accessible. It was an honor and, of course, a true pleasure to work with him.
He was a brilliant lyricist, a DJ, a Buddhist , a magnificent stage presence, car lover, endless talker, beautiful person, moral compass and genius”, the statement added.
Faithless formed in 1995 and pioneered arena dance music. He headlined some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Glastonbury, taking the Pyramid Stage, in 2002. They were nominated for Best UK Dance Show at the Brit Awards in 1999 and 2002. The band broke up in 2011, but returned to releasing a new studio album nearly a decade later, during the Covid pandemic.
