Hailing from Ukraine, Meyer has captured the attention of the electronic music scene with his innovative sound and distinctive style.
Formerly known as Ost & Meyer, he has transitioned to a solo career and established his own label, MEYER Records, reflecting his dedication to pushing boundaries and defying genre constraints.
His latest EP, ‘California’, underscores his unique sound with the inclusion of Connecticut-based artist Ian Biggs in the title track. Released under his own label, ETERNAL Recordings, the EP further cements Meyer’s influence in the music industry.
In a candid conversation with EG, Meyer delves into his creative process, shares insights about his recent releases, and contemplates the future of music in an increasingly tech-centric world. He also touches on his experimentation with AI in music production, his upcoming projects, and his thoughts on the state of electronic dance music.
EG: Hi, Meyer! Welcome back to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us again. How have you been? What have you been up to?
Meyer: Hey there, I have been doing great and keeping extremely busy at the studio.
EG: First of all, thank you for your recent contribution to our EG Podcast Series! We have really enjoyed it. What can fans of the series expect to find in this delivery? Can you walk us through how you craft a podcast?
Meyer: I mixed a special session for Electronic Groove with fresh new unreleased tunes of mine! I hope you like it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
EG: By the way, the mix features three new unreleased cuts, right? What can you tell us about these?
Meyer: These new tunes are very special to me, therefore they were made with a special connection and love. Those compositions will also be released on my label ETERNAL, which is also exciting for me. I will not reveal too many secrets. However, having Jinadu & Run Rivers already on my imprint means a lot to me.
EG: Also, congratulations on the recent release of your new ‘California’ EP! How are you feeling about this one? What has the initial reception been like so far?
Meyer: This work reminds me of my trip to California where I stayed for a couple of weeks. Every listener can find a piece they can relate to in this track.
“Things are gaining traction, which makes me proud and extremely happy”
EG: For ‘California’, you linked up with Ian Biggs. What was that creative process like? Did you guys have a clear horizon before you got started?
Meyer: My manager was at a wedding and met Ian where he was performing for his childhood friend who got married that day. After that, he offered to work with me, the rest is history.
EG: And ‘California’ is out via your own ETERNAL Recordings, signaling its fourth release. How are you feeling about the label now that it’s operational? What can we expect from ETERNAL Recordings in the coming months?
Meyer: I see dynamic growth in my releases and label. People are showing interest in my music, and I also receive a lot of promo material and offers for ETERNAL. So things are gaining traction, which makes me proud and extremely happy.
EG: Now, stepping outside of the studio for a bit…What do you think the future of electronic dance music looks like? Are all these innovations and big-screen festival performances bringing us closer or farther away from the music? What does the scene look like where you’re at?
Meyer: I do believe as long as a human being is at the core of its creation. Whether it’s a live show or a composition, it will never be replaced.
EG: It being such a hot topic, how do you feel about the recent implementation of AI in the creative side of music? Have you explored any form of AI in ‘California’?
Meyer: I tried artificial intelligence in my music. I don’t like AI in the music industry. To create music, you need a soul to convey your sound and emotions, which do not exist in AI. However, AI can offer some creative avenues.

EG: Finally, can you provide some insights into what’s next for Meyer? What can we expect from you in the coming months? Where can your fans catch you next?
Meyer: I will continue to work on other ideas and will try to implement them accordingly with my team. Due to the situation in my country, I am not focused on touring now. However, I’m working on something, so keep your eyes peeled for an update.
EG: Thank you so much for your time, Meyer! See you on the dancefloor!
Meyer: Thanks for having me!
