Australian duo Midnight Pool Party return with ‘What Am I Gonna Do?’, a disco-tinged house cut that pairs their signature upbeat groove with candid lyrics about holding on versus moving forward in love. Out now via their own imprint, the track follows recent release ‘Fidelity’ and continues the project’s exploration of personal narratives on the dance floor.
Written from vocalist Darren’s perspective after conversations with bandmate Ollie, the song captures the push-and-pull of waiting for someone who remains undecided.
“Although exaggerated in many ways, just like all our songs, it’s definitely inspired by real life events,” they explain. Slick guitar licks, bright synth flashes, and a steady four-on-the-floor rhythm provide a buoyant counterpoint to the reflective theme, creating a balance of emotional weight and dance-ready energy.
