Mind charity shares mental health guides for electronic music scene

Ninja Tune, Percolate, Paradigm, and POLY take action for Mental Health Awareness Week.

UK’s leading mental health charity Mind has launched electronic music-specific mental health resources as part of Mental Health Awareness. Partnering up with Ninja Tune, Percolate, and talent agencies POLY and Paradigm, Mind has created guides to support organizations, artist managers, and employees.

The organization found that musicians could be up to three times more likely to suffer from depression than the general public. Insecure income flow, sleep deprivation, excess and drugs, and the life/work balance have all been identified as key factors.

Mind has also announced the Mind ‘X Music Podcast’. Its first broadcast will be streamed live on June 15th, and will feature panelists Joe Hastings (head of health & welfare at Help Musicians UK), and the co-authors of the ‘Can Music Make You Sick? Music And Depression’ study Sally Anne Gross & Dr. George Musgrave. The installment will be soundtracked by Percolate residents, as well as Poly & NTS Radio DJs.
