Allowing artists to charge for their performances.
Mixcloud has announced the addition of a new feature, enabling users to sell tickets to their live streams on their Live platform. This new option will be launched around a series of streams from Flying Lotus, Leon Vynehall, Roisin Murphy, and Lafawndah.
This new feature allows artists to charge for access to their shows but is currently invite-only, as Mixcloud looks forward to building a ‘self-serve option, where both DJs and artists set a ticket price of their choosing’. Streamers also have the option to decide whether they want to make the performance free after the initial transmission or keep it as a pay-per-view.
Mixcloud also says that they are ‘still working out the economics with the initial wave of shows to see what cut makes sense for all the parties involved’.
