Brazilian artist Mochakk just presented ‘Funk do Brasil with Mochakk’, a new four-part docuseries created in partnership with Beatport and ONErpm. The first episode, now available, offers an immersive look into the evolution of Brazilian Funk and its cultural roots across Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Belo Horizonte.

The series follows Mochakk as he returns home to trace the genre’s growth—from its origins in the favelas of Rio to its current status as a global force in electronic music. Alongside artists including Dennis DJ, Mu540, Mac Júlia, VHOOR, and Bonekinha Iraquiana, the series highlights the musicians, subcultures, and performance spaces that have fueled the scene’s rise.

Born in the late 1980s through the fusion of Miami bass and local street sounds, Brazilian Funk has grown from underground resistance to international export. Recognizing its global momentum, Beatport officially added the genre to its platform in April 2025, complete with dedicated charts and playlists.

Through personal narration and on-the-ground footage, ‘Funk do Brasil’ captures the raw energy and social impact of a sound now reshaping dancefloors worldwide—offering not just a music history, but a tribute to a movement.
