Moog Music has unveiled the Moog Messenger, a compact monophonic analog synthesizer designed to deliver the brand’s iconic analog sound in a new form. Blending Moog’s storied warmth with contemporary features, Messenger introduces wavefolding oscillators, a next-generation ladder filter with resonance bass compensation, and an intuitive hands-on interface.
“With Messenger, we aim to honor Moog’s rich heritage while embracing the future of analog synthesis,” said Joe Richardson, Moog Music President and inMusic EVP, Chief Commercial Officer. “This instrument is crafted for musicians and producers seeking a portable, powerful monosynth that delivers the iconic Moog sound, enhanced with modern features and intuitive controls.”
Inspired by classic Moog monosynths like the Minimoog Model D and Voyager, Messenger combines familiar controls with modern innovations. Its wavefolding oscillators and sub-oscillator create rich textures, while the new ladder filter delivers powerful bass even at high resonance.
Featuring 32 full-size semi-weighted keys with velocity and aftertouch, Messenger is equally at home in live performance and studio production. Its 64-step sequencer, versatile arpeggiator, and extensive modulation options make it a dynamic playground for creative expression. Musicians can integrate Messenger seamlessly into any setup with its CV patch points, MIDI, and USB-C connectivity.
“Messenger embodies our commitment to advancing analog synthesis while staying true to the Moog legacy and innovative spirit of Dr. Robert Moog,” said Erik Norlander, Director of Keyboard Product Development at inMusic. “Our goal was to create a synthesizer that invites immediate exploration—welcoming first-time Moog players and offering the depth and expressiveness that experienced musicians expect.”
To celebrate the launch, Akai Professional released ‘Arrival of the Messenger’, a short film featuring original music by Michael Stein.
