Moog is releasing a limited-edition version of its classic Minimoog Model D. The 500-unit reissue arrives as a tribute to the late Moog Music founder Bob Moog, celebrating “the technology and imagination of electronic musical instrument design.”
The Bob Moog Tribute Edition will be hand-built by the Moog Music team in North Carolina. It features a bespoke quartersawn white oak cabinet and a custom Bob Moog Foundation decal on the back panel. The instrument also comes with a semi-rigid travel case designed specifically for the Model D.
Originally introduced in 1970, the Minimoog Model D remained in production until 1981, before returning to production in 2022. The new tribute edition continues that legacy with a limited global run of 500 units, each priced at US$3,999.
As part of the release, Moog has also shared a video titled ‘The Sound That Shaped Music’, reflecting on the instrument’s legacy and cultural impact.
