Morcheeba return with ‘Remix The Chaos Vol. 1’, the opening chapter in a year-long project that revisits their catalogue through a new generation of producers. The release is now available digitally via 100% Records, with a limited-edition vinyl release.
The South London duo continue to explore the space between trip-hop, soul, and downtempo, now inviting contemporary artists to reinterpret their work. Spanning three volumes across 2026, the ‘Remix The Chaos’ series reframes Morcheeba’s songwriting through club-focused perspectives while maintaining the core identity of the originals.
The first volume features contributions from Trance Wax, Paula Tape, Frazer Ray, and Brothers Counsell. Each artist brings a distinct approach, from euphoric rave-driven textures to Latin-leaning rhythms and UK garage influences. The project opens with Trance Wax’s take on ‘Elephant Clouds’, followed by Paula Tape’s version of ‘We Live and Die’, which leans into hypnotic basslines and percussive structures. Frazer Ray reshapes ‘Pareidolia’ with a UKG sensibility, while Brothers Counsell close the release with a festival-ready rework of ‘Bleeding Out’.
Reflecting on the process, Ross Godfrey explains: “The remix process is the best part of making a record, we get to hear our music re-imagined in all sorts of magnificent ways by a whole bunch of talented DJs and producers.”
Rather than revisiting the past, the project positions Morcheeba’s catalogue within a current context, highlighting its adaptability across different styles and settings. The series continues throughout the year, expanding the dialogue between the band’s original material and contemporary club culture.
