With his signature mix of electro-pop, joyful absurdity, and a penchant for field recordings, he has cultivated a dedicated following and carved out a place for unpredictable, unpolished fun on the dancefloor.
Myd is now gearing up to release his new album, ‘Mydnight’, on August 29th via Ed Banger Records / Because Music. Featuring appearances from Channel Tres, Calcutta, Trueno, Carlita, and Bethanie Home, the LP reflects a more personal, club-oriented evolution. His new single ‘So High’ offers a taste of the record’s radiant palette.
To celebrate the release, Myd shares his Top 10 tracks that shaped his style and instincts as a producer.
1. Jean-Claude Roché – Bocage et paysages du Poitou
“I was supposed to become a sound engineer, so I’ve always been obsessed with field recording. Jean-Claude Roché captures France like a nature documentary with no voiceover. I actually hide bird sounds in a lot of my tracks. They brighten up the mix without feeling cliché. This taught me that atmosphere is everything. Music starts even before the drums come in.”
2. Mim Suleiman – Mwaitoma
“In French Touch we love genre collisions. This track mixes raw electronics with joyful Swahili vocals and loose rhythms. It comforts me in the idea that music doesn’t need a passport. It pushed me to blend opposites. Digital and organic, rough and smooth.”
3. Junior Senior – Shake Your Coconuts
“This is the kind of song I was obsessed with as a teenager. It’s fun, fast, and full of unstoppable melodies. You hit play and instantly feel better. It taught me that silliness and quality can live in the same track. And that melody is king.”
4. The Prodigy – Your Love (Remix)
“The first CD I ever bought. And it blew my mind. Dirty, relentless, full of strange samples. It showed me that dance music can be punk. Aggressive, weird, but still totally euphoric.”
5. Michel Berger & France Gall – Jamais Partir (Remix)
“French songwriting is always so inventive. This remix feels almost like an Underworld track. Looping, melancholic, hypnotic. It taught me how powerful repetition can be when it’s done with emotion.”
6. Fatboy Slim – Next to Nothing
“The kind of album I’d listen to on repeat on the way to high school. I didn’t realize it, but I was already having my first raves in my head. It taught me to trust simple loops and let them breathe. Don’t overthink the groove.”
7. Dean Blunt – as long as ropes unravel fake rolex will travel
“There’s something broken and punk about this track. It feels worn out in the best way. Dean isn’t trying to impress anyone. This gave me permission to keep the cracks. To leave things messy if they feel honest.”
8. Michael Rother – Silberstreif
“My favourite song ever. If I ever get tired of 909 kicks, this is the kind of music I’ll make. It taught me that momentum can be gentle. Movement doesn’t always need a drop.”
9. Vegyn – iPhone Fetish
“Vegyn became a friend, but I was a fan first. His work is wild, formatless, inventive. Like a digital fever dream. He reminded me that you don’t need to follow any rules. Just follow your curiosity.”
10. 808 State – Sunrise
“Total 7AM afterparty track. I heard it once in a Tokyo hotel lobby and instantly decided my next album would be more club-driven. It showed me how electronic music can still be optimistic. Rave doesn’t have to be dark.”
