The electronic music world mourns the loss of Rino Cerrone, a renowned Neapolitan DJ and producer who passed away at 52. A visionary in the techno scene, Cerrone’s journey began in the vibrant underground culture of 1990s Naples.

Cerrone’s passion for music ignited during his teenage years as he immersed himself in Italy’s punk and rock concert circuit. This early exposure to diverse genres shaped his distinct approach to electronic music production.

Naples’ emergence as a techno hub in the early ’90s marked Cerrone’s calling. He quickly became a staple in the city’s after-hours scene, crafting a distinctive sound that would eventually captivate global audiences.

In the early 2000s, Cerrone gained international recognition. His performances at major events like ‘I Love Techno’ and Amsterdam’s ‘Innercity’ in 2002 established him as a global techno icon.

Joseph Capriati, another prominent figure in the techno world, expressed his grief in a heartfelt post: “My friend, I can hardly believe you’re gone. You taught me everything, supported me in difficult times, and we shared entire days making music and talking about life.”
