New Faces: Edd

At just 21 years of age, this young talent from the magical island of Malta has nurtured his eclectic repertoire which now spans house, techno, tech-house, and more anomalous electronic genres. His distinctive style harnesses beautiful sounds that take inspiration from his musical education on the guitar, piano, drums, bass, and percussive instruments. Edd’s District residency in Malta has earned him a reputation for bringing unparalleled energy to the booth. His drive and dynamism set him apart as not only a remarkably talented artist but also a blockbuster performer. A pure firestarter, whose productions have enjoyed support from artists such as Jamie Jones, Patrick Topping, and Denis Sulta, this guy is one to watch both now and in the years to come.

Now, Edd makes his debut on Pete Tong’s Three Six Zero Recordings with the banging vocal-led house track ‘Mama Used To Say’. To celebrate the release we caught up with the artist to learn more about him.

EG: What’s your real name, and where were you born?

Edd: As you probably guessed, my real name is Steve. No, I’m joking, it’s Edward. Born on the island of Malta.

EG: Describe your music in 3 words?

Edd: Random, Warm, Energetic.

EG: Where are you based?

Edd: I currently live in Malta.

EG: What labels have you released on throughout your career?

Edd: I’ve released music on HOUZ, Purple Tea Records, Kombava, Glasgow Underground, Apparel Music, Trick Label, and RawsomeDeep.

EG: Can you tell us 3 artists you aspire to / have influenced you?

Edd: The list is never-ending but I’ve been loving the sounds of ANOTR and Toman recently. Have to also shout out this indie band called Los Retros who have some really cool tracks which have served as being the initial inspiration for the track.

EG: How long have you been producing music? What was your first signed release?

Edd: I’ve been making tracks for about 10 years now, but my first signed release dropped in 2019.

EG: Three things you can’t live without on the road when touring?

Edd: Sunglasses, headphones and some Jager. Hmmm.

EG: Can you tell us about your next release?

Edd: My next release is called ‘Mama Used To Say’, which just came out on Pete Tong’s ThreeSixZero Records.

EG: One piece of advice you can give to other aspiring producers?

Edd: I feel as though it’s vital to have fun while working towards a goal in this industry. There is so much competition and other aspiring artists trying to make it, that one must truly be the best version of themselves, and in my opinion, that can be achieved by having fun and embracing the journey.
