A new comedy film inspired by a failed attempt to enter Berlin’s notorious Berghain nightclub is in development, according to Deadline. The project, currently untitled, will be produced and distributed by Disney’s Searchlight Pictures. It will star comedians Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, who will also write the script.
The plot is based on a 2023 episode of the podcast Search Engine, titled ‘Why didn’t Chris and Dan get into Berghain?’, which follows two Americans as they travel to Berlin and try, unsuccessfully, to get past the club’s infamous door policy.
While no release date or official title has been announced, the project is expected to explore themes of nightlife, queer culture, and the global fascination with Berlin’s clubbing scene.
More details on the film to follow.
