Since its inception three years ago, The Hall has been dedicated to fostering a vibrant underground scene in Miami. Moon’s vision has now expanded beyond the city limits, with upcoming events in New York, including an open-air party at the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge—promising breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline.

In this exclusive interview, Moon shares The Hall’s exciting journey, including the recent launch of their in-house label. The label’s debut compilation, ‘Endless Summer,’ showcases a diverse array of artists who have been integral to The Hall’s events. As Moon embarks on this new chapter, he offers insights into the challenges facing the electronic music industry, the importance of community, and his ambitious plans for the future.

EG: Hi, Nico! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?

Nico Moon: Hi team, thanks for having me. Everything’s good here; I’m in Miami right now. Starting to plan the next season here.

EG: So, what has your summer been like? Any particular highlights?

Nico Moon: The summer was amazing, a little bit of everything. Making music, touring, and producing events. I toured all over the West Coast, and finishing in Burning Man was something truly magical.

EG: Now, you’re the founder and resident of the Miami-based event series The Hall. For those who haven’t been to one of your events, can you tell us what The Hall is all about? How did The Hall come to be?

Nico Moon: The Hall was founded 3 years ago in Miami, and it has always been about building up and creating a community for sharing the love and respect of electronic music. We started making small events on Tuesday nights for 50 people with the vision of building up a better underground scene in Miami, and now after 3 years of working hard, and with an amazing team, we have already made 140 events, arrived in 4 cities, and produced events for 1,000 people.

EG: You’re now set to return to NY with an open-air format, right? What can partygoers expect from this particular event?

Nico Moon: Yes, we are coming back to the Harriet rooftop located at the 1 Hotel in Brooklyn, which has one of the best views in the city! The partygoers can expect an amazing sunset with fresh tunes and the skyline of Manhattan in the back, a moving portrait to remember. We love parties going from sunset into night; there’s a lot of magic around these events.

EG: And now The Hall is expanding with the launch of its own in-house label. Congratulations! How are you feeling about this? How much work has gone into making The Hall Records a reality?

Nico Moon: Thanks! Super proud and excited! We created an amazing team with Nico Cerban and FELA to make the label a reality, working hard for the last 10 months, starting to see which artists can participate, how we want the sound to be, and a lot more details. Without them, this couldn’t be a reality!

EG: The label’s first release is your ‘Endless Summer’ V/A. Why did you decide to have this one out as the first release? What can we find on this first delivery?

Nico Moon: The label started with the idea to take the brand to different cities and have our artists in the showcase that we made. Share our own music and also invite colleagues and friends to participate. So we decided for the first release to invite artists that have already been part of our events. In the first VA of ‘Endless Summer,’ we found a versatile album that goes from melodic house, house, deep house, and progressive sounds. We have a special track from Invoker that was made a year ago as a gift to the brand and now being released on the label is something super special. We have amazing artists in this VA: Axatipe, Invoker, Topo Larocca, Differ, Starke, Ziur, Polk, Constanza Pucheta, Deiv Schon, Rest is Noise, Sujeto, and Julian Moreno.

EG: And what can we come to expect from The Hall Records in the future? Will there be a steady release schedule? Will you be open to submissions?

Nico Moon: The idea is to release music again for the end of the year. Releasing music every 3 months, doing one VA per year and 3 EPs. Yes, we are super open to receiving music from all artists. They can send it to info@thehallrecords.com.

EG: On to our current scene…this month, the closure of ASLICE opened up a big discourse surrounding the “big players” and the lack of awareness in the DJ/producer dynamic. How do you feel about this?

Nico Moon: I was reading a lot about this when a few friends told me about ASLICE one year ago, and I think that it is something super interesting to be a part of. I believe that the music scene is an ecosystem and you have to give and receive back and forth. So it is sad to see that something that supports music being created is falling down.

EG: Finally, what can we expect from Nico Moon & The Hall in the next few months? Where can your fans catch you next?

Nico Moon: We are working hard with all the team and our partners for the next season in Miami. Up next, we are doing events in New York on the 12th of October, the 23rd in Miami with a special 360 experience at the legendary club M2, and closing the month doing our first event in Orlando on the 26th. Super excited for what’s to come!

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Nico! We wish you all the best for the future. Take care!

Nico Moon: A big pleasure to be part of EG. Thanks for having me! And congratulations for the EG 1000, can’t wait to see who is going to be the artist! Cheers, Moon.
