The Ecuadorian DJ will debut on the Bradley Zero label.
Rhythm Section released details about Nicola Cruz’s first release on this record company. ‘Subtropique’ is the name of the 5-track EP that will be released next month, and of which a single, ‘Individuality Riddim’ has already been revealed.
Inspired by his South American origins, percussion is an important part of Cruz’s sound. For this EP, the producer recruited his collaborator and drum teacher Pablo Vincencio for ‘Zularic Permutations’. In addition, in the track ‘Barretto’, the artist recognizes the history of his influences and pays tribute to the North American percussionist Ray Barretto.
The tracks on ‘Subtropique’ are held together by a lucid psychedelic thread that defies the fundamentals of dance music, without feeling the need to settle for a definable style.
‘Subtropique’ will go on sale on February 19th. Listen to the first single and check out the tracklist below. Pre-order your copy here.
