Nightmares on Wax has announced the ‘Patang’ EP, a collaborative record with Marlon Lopez arriving via the 20/20 Vision imprint.
The project pairs the veteran UK producer with Lopez, an Ibiza-based musician and bass player. Lopez previously gained experience performing live on tour with the Nightmares on Wax band, leading to this studio partnership.
The title track, ‘Patang,’ utilizes tight drum machine rhythms and layered synth lines. The second original track, ‘Cancel Dat!,’ shifts to a swung, house-oriented structure built on 8-bit string samples and heavy bass patterns. The package is rounded out by two exclusive dub and club edits from label head Ralph Lawson.
Nightmares on Wax is recognized for his foundational releases on WARP Records during the early 1990s bleep techno era. This EP marks a rare appearance outside his usual label, revisiting those early electronic influences alongside Lopez.
