North American event promoters offer venues for mass vaccination

AEG & Livenation included.

In an open letter to the newly elected president of the United States, Joe Biden, several of the most important companies in the concert and live events sectors such as AEG and Live Nation, and associations of concert venues such as the NIVA and IAVM, have offered their venues to host mass vaccination programs in the coming months.

‘The venues used for events are ideal places for community vaccination’ they say in their letter while acknowledging that there are already some places that are being used for it. ‘They are located in most urban, suburban and rural communities, often close to transportation lines and with easy parking. Our interiors are bright, with brightwork lights and standard cooling systems that are currently empty. Due to the nature of our business, our buildings and our workforce are used to managing queues and crowds’.

They further note that the live events industry is ‘one of the best-prepared, best-equipped, and most experienced industries in America to manage and control large crowds in a fast, organized manner. Moving people in, out, and around a public meeting space quickly and safely is the foundation of our industry’.

According to reports, although there is no official confirmation yet, the company Goldenvoice, promoter of Coachella, is in talks with the County of Riverside to prepare a mass vaccination space.
