Recently, EG had the opportunity to catch up with Nuta Cookier to discuss his latest release, the ‘Orion Conference’, as well as his upcoming projects and endeavors.
EG: Hi, Nuta! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?
Nuta Cookier: Thank you, EG. It’s my pleasure to be here with you guys. I am doing very well, in Brazil, São Paulo.
EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your brand new EP, ‘Orion Conference’! You must be excited to finally share this one. What has the initial reception been like so far? Do you remember the first time you played these songs live? (If you have)
Nuta Cookier: Thank you very much. Yes, I am really excited about this new release, ‘Orion Conference’. The people love it, and there has been a lot of good support from DJs. The first time I played it was at a party, and the people loved it. I also played it while streaming on TikTok and for my monthly radio show at FNOOB Techno (Holland), and everyone liked it.
EG: So, what’s ‘Orion Conference’ all about? It feels like a rather unique title. What can your fans expect to find on this EP? Is there a concept connecting the tracks on ‘Orion Conference’?
Nuta Cookier: It’s very hard to explain what ‘Orion Conference’ is because it is a spiritual conference that happens in Orion, and the purpose of it is to bring good energy to our planet, Earth. The fans can expect a lot of trance melodies and progressive sounds that build up with very hypnotic synths, transporting you to the ‘Orion Portal’.
This style is the new one from Beatport, ‘trance (deep/raw/hypnotic)’, which brings back the old school trance that uses the drums from Roland TR909, TR808, TB303, and some classic synths from the 90s. Yes, for sure, the concept is to bring this connection that transports you into new possibilities of discovering new realities.
EG: We know that every project is different, but… What is your production process usually like? Do you have “blueprints” you like to follow for different aspects of a track?
Nuta Cookier: My process is always the same. First of all, I need to be in good energy and have a good spiritual connection. Then, the ideas start flowing and I begin to create. If I’m working on a song that requires great melodies, I first create the main melody and then start building the rest of the track. For example, if I’m making an acid techno track, the first thing I focus on is creating a good 303 sequence, and then I build the rest of the track around it. I believe it’s important to have a blueprint and follow different aspects of a track. Music has many layers, including effects, synths, basslines, beats, and melodies. You have to explore all the possibilities to use in your track. The most important thing is to convey your message and the feeling you want to bring to everyone.

EG: ‘Orion Conference’ has had a series of Beatport chart-topping releases. Were you expecting to see such success this year?
Nuta Cookier: It’s true that I’ve had many releases top the Beatport charts this year. I always believe that the music I’m working on has the potential for success. When you work hard, with passion, and believe in yourself, amazing things can happen.
EG: By the way, you have just shared a 30-minute live set. How much work goes into creating and developing a performance like this one? How is it different from a live set done in a club, for example?
Nuta Cookier: I shared the new live act set for a channel from India. For this live-act performance, I only use hardware instruments. In this set, I use the Novation Summit, Behringer DeepMind 12, Behringer TD-3, Analog Rytm II from Elektron, Digitone from Elektron, Akai Force 1, Hydrasynth Explorer, and Roland TR-8S.
Also, I have to find a special place to record the set with a nice view of the city and people for filming. It’s a lot of work to do this. People can find ‘Flying In Space’ by Nuta Cookier on Spotify, and also with images on YouTube in the Reset Networks channel.
The difference from a club is that you don’t have the feeling from the audience and the overall vibe of a club.
EG: Speaking about live events… now you’re scheduled to perform at Rave Planet, right? What can we expect from that performance?
Nuta Cookier: Yes, I will be there playing with some other DJs in the love mobile, my friends Dj Marz, Halley Seidel, Rose Ringed, Speed Dial Vs DjAngo, Party Rico, Dangello. It will be a great performance with amazing energy and powerful beats to get people dancing a lot. And always with energetic and hypnotic sounds.
EG: The incorporation of AI in electronic music seems to be on the rise, whether it is in the music, the album covers, and beyond. Do you have a particular stance on this?
Nuta Cookier: It’s nice for album covers, you can have unique images. For the other parts, it depends.

EG: Finally, can you provide some insights into what’s next for Nuta Cookier? What’s in store for 2024? Where can your fans catch you next?
Nuta Cookier: Always making music in different genres. Techno, house, trance (raw), acid, and new age (meditation music). There will be a new techno acid release for a Portuguese label, Beats Hd Record, which is entitled ‘Cosmic Techno’, and one more release at the end of the month. For 2024, there will be programmed new releases, as well as a new album of New Age music. There will be a Rave the Planet in Berlin, and some parties in São Paulo. Twice a month, I will be playing in the radio show for FNOOB techno in Holland. And many other places. And I always do live streams playing on my Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.
EG: Thank you so much for your time, Nuta! We wish you all the best for the future. Take care!
Nuta Cookier: Thank you very much, EG. It’s a pleasure for this opportunity and keep up the good work. I wish all the best for everyone. Take care.
