Olive F on Paradise in the City, Defected, and Ibiza magic

Olive F, a passionate vinyl collector and music aficionado, has transformed her love for music into a thriving career as a DJ and producer. Her journey began with curating a diverse record collection, influenced by the soulful sounds of disco, 80s soul, and 90s hip hop, drawing inspiration from artists like Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, J Dilla, and A Tribe Called Quest. Her evolving taste led her to the raw, infectious rhythms of early Jacking House, shaped by pioneers like DJ Sneak and Derrick Carter, which continue to define her unique style.

After immersing herself in Ibiza’s underground scene, Olive F transitioned from collector to DJ, delivering groove-driven house sets that blend nostalgia with raw energy. In 2023, she became a resident at Darius Syrossian’s Moxy Muzik parties and expanded her reach with international gigs in Singapore and Ibiza. Now a resident for elrow and Defected in 2025, she has also made her mark as a producer, with releases on labels like Defected, elrow, and Moxy Muzik, and upcoming tracks on Robsoul and Edible, cementing her status as a rising star in electronic music.

Olive F will be performing at Jamie Jones’s Paradise in the City festival on August 2nd, 2025,  at London’s Boston Manor Park. Ahead of her presentation, she caught up with us to talk about this special date, her ‘Hot Sauce’ release, Ibiza days, and more.

EG: Hi, Olive! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How are you doing?

Olive F: Thanks so much for the warm welcome — it’s great to be here with EG. I’m doing really well, feeling inspired and excited about everything coming up. Looking forward to connecting with everyone and sharing the journey!

EG: First of all, congratulations on having your single ‘Hot Sauce’ included in Defected’s ‘In The House Ibiza 2025’ VA sampler. We know it was a big tune for you. What are some of your feelings now that it’s been out for a few months to share with everyone?

Olive F: Thank you so much! It’s honestly such an incredible feeling to see ‘Hot Sauce’ featured on the Defected In The House Ibiza 2025 sampler — it still feels a bit surreal. That label and compilation carry so much weight in the scene, so to be a part of it is genuinely a dream come true.

Since the release, the love and support from DJs, listeners, and dance floors around the world has been overwhelming in the best way. Hearing it played out in different settings – and seeing people react to it – has been a huge buzz. I poured a lot of energy and fun into that track, so it’s amazing to see it connecting with others. It’s definitely given me even more motivation to keep creating and pushing forward.

EG: Speaking about summer vibes…you’re set to perform at ‘Jamie Jones presents Paradise in the City’ this August 2nd at Boston Manor Park, London. Congratulations, again. You must be excited for this one. What can we expect from your upcoming performance?

Olive F: Thank you — I’m absolutely buzzing for this one! Paradise in the City is such an iconic event, and to be on the lineup alongside so many amazing artists is a real honor. Jamie Jones and the whole Paradise crew always bring that high-energy, feel-good atmosphere, and I can’t wait to be part of it.

For my set, expect pure summer energy — grooves that get people moving, some spicy edits, a few surprises, and of course, a healthy dose of Hot Sauce! I want to take people on a proper journey and make it one of those unforgettable summer moments. London’s going to be lit on August 2nd, and I’m ready to bring the heat!

EG: And what do you expect from this particular date? Will this be your first time performing at Boston Manor Park?

Olive F: Yes, it’ll be my first time playing at Boston Manor Park, and I’m really looking forward to it. The venue itself has such a unique vibe – that mix of open-air freedom and big city energy – so I’m expecting a proper day-to-night party with an electric crowd.

I think this date is going to be special. Paradise always curates an incredible atmosphere, and with it being in London, there’s that added buzz. I’m expecting big energy, smiling faces, and a real connection on the dancefloor. Can’t wait to soak it all in and be part of the moment!

EG: Now, going back to your origins, we know you spent several summers in Ibiza before you made the transition behind the decks. What was it about electronic dance music that got you hooked? When did you take your first steps?

Olive F: Those summers in Ibiza were honestly life-changing. There’s just something about the island – the energy, the freedom, the music – it pulls you in. I remember being on the dancefloor, completely lost in the sound, and thinking, this is it. The way electronic music brings people together, breaks down barriers, and creates pure moments – that’s what hooked me.
But really, the love for music started way before that. I grew up in a household where music was always playing – from classic vinyl to house music, it was a constant part of our lives. My family definitely shaped my ear and my love for rhythm, melody, and the emotion music can carry.
After those early Ibiza trips, I started getting more hands-on – messing around with decks, digging deep into sounds, and learning how to build a journey through a set. It began as a passion, but over time it turned into a calling. Ibiza lit the spark, but my roots were always there – it all just came together.

EG: What has been your favorite part of the journey so far? And the hardest?

Olive F: It’s hard to pick just one favorite part, but honestly, it’s those moments of connection – when you’re behind the decks and the crowd is completely with you, feeling every beat. That shared energy is pure magic. Seeing people react to your music, especially tracks you’ve created, is something I’ll never take for granted.

Another highlight has been the support from peers and other DJs — whether it’s someone you admire dropping your track in their set or just a message saying “this tune bangs,” it means the world. That sense of community and encouragement has been such a driving force and keeps you going, especially on the tougher days.

And yeah, the hardest part? Probably dealing with self-doubt and learning to stay confident in your sound. This journey isn’t always smooth — there are quiet moments, knock-backs, and times where you question your path. But those challenges build resilience. They’ve helped me grow, stay humble, and stay hungry.

EG: How would you describe your music? Are you making the same music you thought you’d be making when you first started out, or has that shifted?

Olive F: I’d describe my music as groove-driven, high-energy, and full of character — something that makes you move but also makes you feel. It’s got that blend of house, tech, and a bit of spice — a cheeky rhythm here, a soulful vocal there — always with dancefloor intention.

When I first started out, I had a rough idea of the sound I wanted, but like anything creative, it’s evolved over time. At the beginning, I was experimenting a lot, just soaking everything in. Over the years, I’ve found more confidence in my style and started trusting my instincts more.
The core feeling is still the same – I want to make people dance and connect – but the way I get there has definitely shifted. I think that’s part of the journey: letting your influences shape you, but carving out your own voice along the way.

EG: Given your experience, what are some of the biggest challenges artists will face in the near future?

Olive F: One of the biggest challenges artists will face – and are already facing – is cutting through the noise. With so much music being released every day and algorithms driving a lot of what people hear, it can be tough to get your sound noticed, even when the quality is there.

There’s also the pressure to be constantly visible – posting, performing, producing – it’s easy to burn out if you’re not careful. Finding balance between creativity, career, and personal wellbeing is going to be key moving forward.

That said, there’s also a lot of opportunity. The tools and platforms available now mean artists can connect directly with their audience, build their own lane, and stay independent if they want to. It’ll be about staying authentic, building community, and playing the long game. Resilience, originality, and a solid support network will matter more than ever.

EG: What’s next for Olive F? What milestones are you looking forward to now? Where can your fans catch you next? Any tours planned?

Olive F: There’s a lot in the pipeline, and I’m really excited for what’s coming next. Right now, I’m focused on finishing up some new music – a couple of collabs and solo tracks that I can’t wait to test out on the dancefloor. The goal is to keep evolving my sound while staying true to what makes it me.

Milestone-wise, I’ve definitely got my eye on more international gigs and hopefully my first full EP release with a label that really aligns with my vibe. It’s about pushing forward creatively while staying connected to the people who’ve supported me from day one.

Next up, fans can catch me at Paradise in the City at Boston Manor Park on August 2nd — it’s going to be a big one! There are also a few more dates in the works for later this year, both in the UK and hopefully beyond… so stay tuned. Tour announcements are coming soon, and I can’t wait to bring the heat to new places!

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Olive! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!

Olive F: Thanks!
