Oliver Heldens revisits one of dance music’s defining tracks with his rework of ‘Lady (Hear Me Tonight)’, available now via Heldeep Records.
First released in 2000 by French duo Modjo, ‘Lady (Hear Me Tonight)’ blended house, funk, and pop into a genre-crossing anthem. Now, Heldens offers a respectful update that retains the song’s original groove while layering in his refined, modern touch.
“For me personally, ‘Lady’ is one of my favorite songs ever, and it’s one of the songs that got me in love with house and disco music as a kid. I never dared to touch/remix ‘Lady,’ though, until earlier this year,” says Heldens. “The intention was not to reinvent the wheel, but to create a modern yet timeless and credible melodic summer club/house mix that is truly 100% in service of the original, and I’m pleased with the result. It’s been a highlight in my sets and it feels like it’s the type of mix that a wide range of DJs can play out.”
