Mortal Kombat II Was Brutal, and 123Movies Has a New Home

Rating before the review: 8.5 out of 10.

Maybe an eight if you dont care about the games. Maybe a nine if you’ve ever yelled “FINISH HIM” at a TV and scared somebody in the next room.

I watched Mortal Kombat II after closing the shop early. My last appointment was a four-hour dragon piece, the client kept moving every time the needle touched his ribs, and by the end both of us were ready to fight somebody.

Perfect movie choice.

Yes, There Is an Actual Tournament

The first movie spent alot of time promising Mortal Kombat without fully giving us Mortal Kombat. The sequel finally gets everyone into the competition and lets the fighters do what they’re here to do.

Fight, bleed and occasionally remove a body part in a very creative way.

Johnny Cage brings the right amount of dumb celebrity confidence. He talks like he’s the main character even when everybody around him could fold him into a suitcase. Some people will find him annoying, but I thought he was hilarious.

The returning fighters get better action scenes this time, and the new matchups feel more like the games. Mortal Kombat II officially opened in U.S. theaters on May 8, 2026.

Best and Worst Fatalities

I wont spoil exactly who gets what, but one fatality made me say “ohhh, thats nasty” out loud.

The movie doesnt cut away at the last second either. It knows why people bought a ticket.

Not every digital effect looks great. One creature looks like it escaped from a ten-year-old game trailer, and a couple green-screen backgrounds are rough. You can almost see where the floor ends.

But the practical makeup is sick. As somebody who spends all day studying lines, shading and how designs sit on the body, I appreciated the details on the fighters.

How I Found It

The annoying part came before the movie.

My old 123Movies page wouldnt load, and I assumed the domain had gone down for a few hours. After trying again later, I found out the old address was finished and the site had moved to 123movie.

Myflixer got me through the wait because I used it to replay the first movie while searching for the new link. Worked out fine.

Final Round

Mortal Kombat II isnt deep. Nobody is leaving the movie theater questioning the nature of existence.

It’s fast, violent, funny and finally feels like the tournament fans were promised.

The story gets crowded and some dialogue is straight-up terrible, but the fights deliver. Sometimes thats enough.

Also, three clients asked for Mortal Kombat tattoos the following week.

One wanted a full Scorpion back piece for two hundred bucks.

Fatality.
