Paris and Brussels-based DJ and producer, EG, just released her debut EP entitled ‘Unexpected Journey’ via Pont Neuf Records.
The musical package features the lead single ‘Right from Wrong’, which draws inspiration from EG’s childhood and pays tribute to artists like Ron Trent, Jovonn, and Blaze. ‘U Know What I Want‘ combines influences from Balearic and dream-house genres, while ‘Then It Goes’ takes a more club-oriented approach with its 90s progressive house inspiration. The collaboration with Mangabey, titled ‘So Special’, seamlessly blends the sounds of Afrika Bambaataa and brings together the unique house and progressive styles of both artists. The interlude, aptly named ‘Interlude’, represents the challenges EG faced in reconciling her former career as an architect with her role as a DJ. It symbolizes her deep sense of solitude during moments of panic and uncertainty.
“In this EP, I share my discoveries, choices, encounters, and difficulties. Balancing two professions in the early stages of my career was a challenge, but it also fueled my determination to give purpose to this significant decision,” explains EG.
