Purple Disco Machine has announced a temporary break from touring after experiencing sudden hearing loss and severe tinnitus. The German DJ and producer shared the news in a statement posted to social media, confirming the cancellation of all scheduled performances through mid-July.
According to the artist, whose real name is Tino Piontek, the symptoms began roughly three weeks ago. While he has lived with tinnitus for the past 25 years, he explained that the current episode is the most severe he has experienced and requires immediate rest following medical advice.
The producer was scheduled to perform at a number of club and festival events over the coming weeks, including appearances in Mexico City and at California’s Day Trip Festival. Those engagements have now been cancelled as he focuses on recovery.
Despite the setback, Piontek expressed optimism about returning in July, thanking promoters, partners, and fans for their support. In a light-hearted closing note, he added: “Turns out I’m not a machine after all!”
