Rafael makes his debut on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels with ‘Gotta Be Cool’, a two-track release built around one of the most requested IDs from the label boss’ recent sets.
Long before its official release, the title track had become a fixture on dancefloors, circulating through DJ sets and generating track ID requests across club communities. Created after Rafael was introduced to a vocal by Tobias Wincorn, the record combines emotional synth work, vocal hooks, and club-focused energy that has made it a standout moment in Lazarus’ performances throughout the year.
On the B-side, ‘Teder’ finds Rafael collaborating with close friend and studio partner N.O.Y. The track explores a deeper and more understated direction, pairing layered percussion with fluid grooves and after-hours atmospheres. Named after the studio complex where the pair work together, it also marks the first record they created in that space.
The release adds another milestone to Rafael’s growing catalogue, which already includes appearances on Beltools, Hot Creations, TSZR, Planet X, and Maccabi House.
