Brooklyn’s REFUGE NYC has unveiled its late November and December lineups, closing out its inaugural year with an intimate New Year’s Eve set from Sasha and a New Year’s Day takeover led by Victor Calderone.
Launched this fall by John Dimatteo and sound designer Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu, REFUGE has quickly become one of New York’s most uncompromising new clubs. Located in a 19th-century industrial complex between East Williamsburg and Bushwick, the venue prioritizes sound quality through custom acoustics, a floated maple wood dancefloor, and Shorty’s hand-built REX analogue system—re-tuned weekly for peak fidelity.
As the winter season sets in, REFUGE’s programming remains rooted in underground values. Highlights include Octave One (live), Carl Craig, Tim Green, Tony Humphries, Natalia Roth, Eli Escobar, Josh Butler, and Appetite’s Liam Palmer and Elliot Schooling. The club also welcomes Serge Devant as its newest resident, set to lead an extended after-hours session later this month.
Thanksgiving week sees Battle Hymn take over with J. Aria, Michael Magnan, and Donofrio, followed by sets from Anthony Middleton, Claudio, Ranger Trucco, and a Sunday Selectors session with Joey Llanos and Shorty. December features Miss Gypsy, Mike Dunn, Cosmo, Matisa, Simon Heyliger, Mario MPC, and Jellybean Benitez—rounding out the year ahead of the marquee NYE and NYD events.
Phones are discouraged, there’s no bottle service, and no VIP — preserving a space built on connection, late-night freedom, and a return to club culture’s core.
