Techno DJ and producer Richie Hawtin will be showcasing his F.U.S.E. project live at IRCAM’s Électro Odyssée. This event will mark only the second time in his 30-year plus career that Richie Hawtin will perform under his F.U.S.E. moniker.
Scheduled to take place on the 5th and 6th of February 2024 at IRCAM (Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music) in the heart of Paris, this year’s Electro-Odyssée concert season promises an enthralling experience. Richie Hawtin’s performance will feature brand-new ambient and improvised material, demonstrating his mastery in creating captivating and immersive soundscapes.
The Canadian artist’s exploration of the early connection between techno and minimalist pioneer Steve Reich has redefined the possibilities for modern composers. Drawing inspiration from Reich’s minimalistic approach, Hawtin’s F.U.S.E. Live project emphasizes a focused selection of sounds and parameters, utilizing various loop points for progressions and movement. These performances unfold in real time, offering a unique and spontaneous musical experience.
IRCAM, a prestigious research center dedicated to music and science, seamlessly combines a performance festival with an academy, fostering collaborations between scientists and artists to push the boundaries of artistic expression and technology.
Electro-Odyssée, an initiative by IRCAM, expands the expressive capabilities of electronic music, offering a sonic journey through contemporary and experimental genres. Hosted at its venue in Paris, this event merges artistic sensibilities with cutting-edge scientific research in creation, exploration, and dissemination.
