Ritchie Haydn reflects on ARRVL and ‘Rework Series 005’

Ritchie Haydn’s path into electronic music traces back to the mid-90s, shaped by the trance movement and Balearic sound, before evolving through influences rooted in soulful house and disco.

Drawn to melody, vocal-driven structures, and the club experience, he later stepped into DJing, refining his craft through London Sound Academy and early performances across intimate venues.

Since then, Haydn has played across the UK and Ibiza, with appearances at HorseandGroom, Egg, Ministry of Sound, McQueen, Orange Yard, Eden, and Pacha, alongside Ibiza Sunset Boat Parties. His sets move across disco, vocal house, deep house, and techno, adapting to context while maintaining a clear musical identity. As co-founder of ARRVL, he has also focused on building a platform centered on emotive, narrative-driven electronic music.

With ‘Rework Series 005: Ritchie Haydn’, he turns that vision inward, curating a compilation that revisits key moments from his catalog while introducing new material. The release marks a milestone shaped by years of collaboration and steady development.

In this conversation, Ritchie Haydn opens up about the concept behind the Rework series, the process of curating his own edition, and his outlook on creativity, balance, and community.

EG: Hi, Ritchie! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been doing?

Ritchie Haydn: Hey guys, thanks so much for having me. I’ve been really good, thanks. 2025 was pretty crazy on all fronts, probably my busiest year across events, the label, and my own productions. My partner and I also thought it would be a great idea to take on a house renovation, which we have just about finished. And it’s been a fast start to the year, too, but an exciting and fun time.

EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your compilation, ‘Rework Series 005: Ritchie Haydn’. You must be thrilled to be able to share this one. What has the initial reception been like so far?

Ritchie Haydn: It was released early April, and I’m really excited to get it out there. It’s been a good start with plenty of full compilation downloads, as well as a couple of tracks looking to be people’s favorites. It also went out on a pre-release promo and got a lot of love across the board. I’ve got brilliant artists featured on the compilation, and I’m really proud of what we’ve curated.

EG: ‘Rework Series 005: Ritchie Haydn’ comes via your own ARRVL imprint, and represents its fifth installment. What is the main concept behind this series?

Ritchie Haydn: Each edition focuses on a title artist, with a selection of tracks remixed by them or a take on one of their tracks from another producer. Some of the tracks are ones featured on previous releases, and some are brand new remixes. You’ll hear a blend of genres, styles, and pace within each release, as we want to showcase the breadth of the artist and the label. The other piece about the series is about giving some of our most prolific label artists a bit of a thank you for supporting the label over the years, with a release focused on them. Clearly, I’m a little self-indulgent, giving myself the Rework treatment!

EG: So, how did you go about curating your own edition of the Rework concept? What was behind some of the track choices from previous releases, and we understand there are a couple of fresh edits too?

Ritchie Haydn: I’ve been super lucky over the years to have collaborated with many amazing artists, who I have huge respect for, with remixes of my tracks that have blown me away, so honestly, it was a tough choice. So much so, I ended up with 10 tracks. A number of the tracks on the compilation were originally released on other labels, and I’m very thankful that they allowed me to re-release them on ARRVL, because I really loved the remixes. So big ups to Manuel Music, Capital Heaven, and Movement Recordings. There is a fresh new remix based on an original track I finished last year, called ‘Forget The World’, which is yet to be released, but Peter Makto has done an incredible version that I just had to include. And generally for the choice of tracks, I wanted to select across all the years I have been producing, and as such, I did a fresh edit of the first-ever track I released back in 2020, ‘The Beginning’, which I think shows the journey I’ve been on in my production.

“Get out there in the world, meet people, support emerging parties and raves, make real connections, share experiences, buy artists’ music, and support their journey”

EG: As mentioned, the compilation is being released on your own imprint, ARRVL Records. We did a feature on the label’s 50th release last year with you and co-label manager Belms. How did the ARRVL50 compilation do, and what can we expect from the brand for the rest of 2026?

Ritchie Haydn: The reception of ARRVL50 was everything we could have hoped for, feedback and performance-wise. It was just very cool to be able to showcase the previous four years of releases. In terms of the label for the rest of 2026, we have our fifth-year compilation to come out, and then the label will take a break for a few months to allow  Rob and me some time to focus on personal projects and family, which will be very welcome.

EG: On to a broader subject… What would you like to accomplish as an artist this year? Is there something “tangible” that you’d like to go for?

Ritchie Haydn: Probably doesn’t sound that exciting or insightful an answer, but my focus is for more balance in my life, and spending more time with my family, taking my son to rugby, swimming, football, and all those birthday parties, which certainly doesn’t mean rest. Aside from that, I plan to take my time on my productions, exploring a wider breadth of styles and sounds, basically just enjoy myself, discover, and see where it takes me. One of the things this compilation release means for me is that it’s a culmination of seven years of production, releases, and collaborations, a moment in time as such, and I see post the release as the start of something fresh or a next stage. I’m also excited to push the Social Beats brand and events a bit more, as I’m having loads of fun putting on those parties and playing sets with eclectic music.

EG: What are some of the challenges artists will face in the near future? What advice would you give to your colleagues? What would you like to see more and less of?

Ritchie Haydn: Originality and authenticity. Originality in terms of the challenge of creation that feels fresh, genuine, and different — it’s extremely hard, given how many people make music now and how many tracks get released, alongside the amount of formatted plug-ins, templates, samples, and creative software available. It’s tough to stand out. And authenticity, when you think about how much an artist’s profile is about what is positioned on social media, so being authentic in how you come across and connecting meaningfully with people is key, and also difficult to do in a genuine and natural way. My advice is to get out there in the world, meet people, support emerging parties and raves, make real connections, share experiences, buy artists’ music, and support their journey. That’s what music culture and community were always built on, and that’s what I think is most valuable today.

EG: What’s next for Ritchie Haydn? Where can your fans catch you next?

Ritchie Haydn: I have a couple of collaborations in progress, which are super fun, being able to bounce ideas around, share experiences, techniques, and styles. It keeps the creative process fresh. I’ve got a few parties and sets coming up with Social Beats, which I’m really excited about, so watch this space for more Social  Beats-oriented events.

“My focus is on more balance in my life”

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Ritchie! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!

Ritchie Haydn: A pleasure, thanks so much for the opportunity to chat with you guys.
