Robert Pattinson has opened up about a collection of unreleased music, much of it produced during the filming of ‘The Batman’. In a new interview with GQ released on Friday, January 23rd, the actor explained that he spent time between takes making electronic tracks in a tent on set, often still wearing the Batman cowl with headphones stretched over it.
“Basically, whenever I was on a break on Batman, I had my headphones over the bat ears and I was making electronic music on an MPC with my vape, done up like Batman,” he said.
Using an MPC, Pattinson said he made “tonnes and tonnes” of material—mostly ambient and electronic in tone—and briefly considered releasing it. While no official plans are in place, he described the sessions as prolific and creatively open-ended. “There was a period where I thought I was going to release that,” he continued. “You have to decide who you want to be in this life, you can’t be everything.”
He framed the music-making as an ongoing but informal process, often recording ideas without pressure to share them. In the interview, Pattinson mentioned moving away from traditional guitar-led songwriting and leaning more into electronic styles, while also expressing admiration for artists like 100 gecs. “I wish I’d been part of that when it was all taking place… I love their music,” he said.
Pattinson first spoke publicly about producing music in 2022. By then, he had already contributed to several film projects and official soundtracks, though none of the recent material has been formally released.
Scenes from ‘The Batman’ were also filmed at London venue Printworks, adding a subtle crossover between the film’s world and electronic music culture.
