‘Sail We Must’ documentary celebrates Andrew Weatherall

Marking the second anniversary of Weatherall’s passing.

A new documentary entitled ‘Sail We Must: A Sea Story of Andrew Weatherall & An Irish Fisherman’, tells of a circumstantial encounter between the celebrated producer Andrew Wetherall and a fisherman named Gerard Sheehy.

In ‘Sail We Must: A Sea Story of Andrew Weatherall & An Irish Fisherman’, Sheehy unknowingly inspired the late artist, when the two met in Cork, Ireland, back in 2008. Sheehy drove Weatherall down to the Cork X Southwest Music & Arts Festival, and during the trip, he said the phrase ‘fail we may, sail we must’, which famously became one of Weatherall’s mantras.

The documentary, which is available on YouTube, features footage of Weatherall along with commentary and anecdotes from collaborators and friends, was directed by Grizzly and produced by Dublin-based creative agency The Tenth Man.
