#SaveOurVenues campaign aims to save 30 UK venues from closure

Egg London, Windmill Brixton, and The Waiting Room are among the institutions.

The UK’s Music Venue Trust initiated the #saveourvenues campaign back in April, in order to raise funds and highlight the challenges endured by small music venues and clubs during the pandemic. Unfortunately, some venues are still at risk, so MVT has announced a new campaign.

Known as ‘Traffic Light’, the new initiative sheds a light on 30 venues which are at a critical state, and at risk of going out of business forever. Some of these venues are London’s Egg, BOOM Leeds, The Waiting Room, The Lantern, Windmill Brixton, and Venue38.

‘During the last 8 months, Music Venue Trust and Crowdfunder have worked together to prevent the closure of hundreds of grassroots music venues. With no end to the crisis in sight, we are now refocusing that work to spotlight those venues under most imminent threat of permanent closure. The #SaveOurVenues Red List highlights the grassroots music venues at most risk’, reads a statement over at their Crowdfunder page.
