Scuba has announced his latest mixtape, ‘Digital Underground’, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his own label, Hotflush. The mixtape is scheduled to be released on November 10th, 2023.
Building upon the concepts explored in ‘Hardcore Heaven’, ‘Digital Underground’ includes modified versions and additional tracks that blend acid house, early hardcore, breaks, and techno. This 12-track mixtape draws inspiration from the acid house and hardcore era, taking influence from acts such as Top Buzz, SL2, and Shades of Rhythm.
Notable tracks on ‘Digital Underground’ include the recently released ‘Tru Love’, a dynamic breakbeat composition that showcases the artist’s melodic talent, and ‘Move Like Shadows’, a shimmering piece that combines a vocal hook with delicate percussion. ‘Pls’ is an M25 rave-inspired track with dreamy breaks and a rap snippet, while ‘Room with a View’ takes listeners on a captivating journey with its piano-driven soundscape.
In addition to the mixtape, Scuba will release ‘Hardcore Heaven II’ on September 29th. This vinyl release features alternate versions of four tracks from ‘Digital Underground’.
