‘Closer’ is the third album in his career.
The man behind the golden mask, Claptone, has announced his new studio album, ‘Closer‘. The record will be released on November 12th through Different Recordings and PIAS, and will feature a number of important collaborators and pop icons, including Barry Manilow and Seal, among others.
In line with the announcement, the masked artist shared the latest single to emerge from the album, called ‘Wake Up’. The inspirational cut features the husky and soulful voice of Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow and is already available to stream and purchase.
‘Closer’ has been in the works for over three years and shows a natural development in the Claptone sound. The album has been co-produced by Stuart Price, the electronic musician, DJ, songwriter, and record producer known for his work with artists such as Madonna, The Killers, Dua Lipa, and the Pet Shop Boys. The appropriately titled album is the next phase in the enigmatic artist’s musical evolution after the 2018 LP, ‘Fantast’.
Joining him, the album features a heap of global contributors including Peter Bjorn, Seal, Mayer Hawthorne, Mansionair, APRE, Dizzy, SPELLES, Lau.Ra, Two Another, and longtime Claptone collaborator Nathan Nicholson, former singer of The Boxer Rebellion. ‘Closer’ also features American pop icon and showman Barry Manilow. The collaboration took off when Claptone noticed Manilow participating in a television interview in which he mentioned that his favorite act was ‘a guy named Claptone’.
Claptone’s ‘Closer’ will be out on November 12th, and you can pre-order your copy here.
